What is Nottingham Goose Fair?
Nottingham Goose Fair is one of Europe’s largest travelling funfairs, which comes to Nottingham for one week. Unlike small local fairs, Nottingham Goose Fair attracts rides, attractions, and travellers from a wide variety of different regions.
The fair dates back more than 700 years. The consensus among historians is that the fair probably started just after 1284 with 1927 the last year of it being held in Old Market Square in Nottingham City Centre; after this date it was moved to the Forest Recreation Ground because of redevelopment of the Square.
Stalls down throughout the grounds are filled with the sights and smells of traditional fairground food from hamburgers and hot dogs to candy floss, toffee apples, pomegranates and even hog roast.
